The Port Townsend residence is a completely restored 1890’s era Victorian style home, located in Port Townsend, Washington, an historic seaport town noted for tourism and local specialty events. The redesigned home was entirely reconstructed including new foundations, framing and mechanical systems.

Because of the historic nature of the home and its location, extra care was taken when reconditioning the exterior, keeping its original period styling intact. The interior however was renovated into contemporary open and light spaces

Structural beams were installed, allowing Design Northwest to open the public spaces into one large visual area. The spatial design is complemented by built in bookshelves, dividers and planters. The master bedroom and bath have a private deck with a view of the nearby Olympic Mountains.

The house was remodeled as a single-family residence, but in light of local tourism, the interior was designed in a manner allowing for bed and breakfast or weekly rentals. Four couples, in four separate bedrooms, can inhabit the house without disturbing each other.
